Running is good, and Running for a cause is even goodder,  I mean better! Susan G Komen’s Race For the Cure®  will be taking place on September 25th 2016. Susan G Komen in spite of its controversial history, continues to be one of the largest, best funded Breast Cancer Organization in the US. (If none of your facebook friends updated you in the last few years on Susan G Komen’s contraversies – here is a little refresher.  Charity Navigator dropped Susan G Komen’s rating from 4 stars to 2 stars back in 2014, following controversy around CEO’s salary increase, usage of funds, and their fund withdrawal for mammogram referrals provided by planned parenthood. However, as of late, they have been back to a 3 star rating)

I have a lot of close friends whose immediate family members have been affected by breast cancer, and are very into help raising awareness and funds for this cause. Our friend Andrea raised most money for Stand up for the Cure fundraising benefiting Susan G Komen back in May. I still remember looking at the survivors and other families at that event, to realize, what an amazing group of people, and the strength they portrayed to come as one to fight and raise money!

Susan G Komen’s Race for the Cure is another opportunity for us to come forward and help fight for this cause. It is a Fun walk/run 5k. For Adults, its $35 to register. $5 for timing chip which is optional if you wanted. There will be top 3 prices for timing chip runners. There is no finisher medals, but if you donate $25 more on top of the registration fee, you will get a Race for the Cure commemorative medal.Everyone that participates will get a race day t-shirt. You can register in person at their Race Registration Suit, at  Woodbridge Village Shopping Center.4610 Barranca Parkway, Irvine  92604 which will open this Wednesday 4pm. Registering in person will save you money on online convenience fee. Its $40 to register on the day of the event.  The event itself takes place in Newport Beach at Fashion Island.

I couldn’t confirm if they have age group awards or not. Our Snail’s Pace Group members will be present as this is one of our club run of the month!
