I thought I was signing up for a race that my friend Ashley was doing, but little did I know Carmel Valley and Camarillo are completely different places in opposite direction. All surprise ahead, I am now signed up to do a Half Marathon at Camarillo Harvest Half Marathon. My running group Snail’s pace got few guest entries from the race directors, and bunch of us are going over there this weekend.

The Harvest Moon is the full Moon nearest the start of fall or the autumnal equinox. and This week happens to be the Harvest Moon weekend! With that, Camarillo Harvest Half Marathon/10k/5k – takes place this September 18th – Sunday morning. This is their third year. The running courses, are next to an Airport, along the side of famous Camarillo farmlands. The race director promises that the course is one of the flattest course you would run!

Race has a 5k/10k/half marathon. 10k is a two loop of the 5k course. Half Marathon is a 3 loop of a little modified 5k course. I have never done a loop so I have to see how my brain holds up to the repeat of the scenery. This will be my 3rd half marathon, and I can tell I am as nervous as I was when I ran my first half marathon!

The registration is still open. (No race day registration) 5k is $55. 10k is $65. Half Marathon is $85. You will get the technical t-shirt, and finisher medal. There is age divisional prizes as any standard race would have it. The course is USATF certified. You have a choice of signing up as a virtual runner, where they mail your finisher medal and tshirt back to you. But keep it honest and run the distance and send them a picture!

I am super excited about this race, as I haven’t run that much in the LA/Ventura areas,and this is my second time doing a race in LA. (My first one was Baldwin Park Pride of the Valley 5k).

Date: September 18, 2016 – Half Marathon starts at 7:00, and 10k at 7:15am and 5k at 7:30am.
