2017 Marathon Goal…

I ran my first 5k in April of 2016 and since then I have run 20 races.In October I have run 3 half marathons in the span of 4 weeks, and surprisingly enough I felt pretty good during my recovery runs, which makes me believe, my legs are getting used to the distance. With that in mind, my goal for 2017 is to run a Marathon. I have been eyeing few different marathons, but I thought I would write this blog to get feedback from my friends and other fellow runners.

Lot of my friends are signing up for LA Marathon which is in March 2017. Its $175 to sign up, which is pretty expensive for me, but I can manage to find money for it. However I keep hearing from people that ran the course that its a pretty tough course. (Site : http://www.lamarathon.com/ Price $175)

I already signed up for San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon for May 2017. For $20, I can upgrade it to a Full Marathon, which is still super cheap for me to afford. However my friend Anthony thinks SD Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon course has a whole mile of hill at mile 21, and could be bad for a first timer like me.  (Site : http://www.runrocknroll.com/san-diego/ Price is $79)

Several of our Snail’s Pace Running group friends are doing Jack and Jill Down Hill Marathon which is $99 to sign up, and its a down hill course all the way and I been told this is a perfect but I don’t want to travel to another state for my first Marathon. I wouldn’t have done my first half marathon, if it wasn’t the fact that it was right down the street.(Laguna Hills Memorial Day Half Marathon) (site: http://jackjillmarathon.com/. My running group friend Greg Minton ran his first marathon who really inspired me to look into doing a Marathon. He ran his first marathon at Chicago Marathon and had a lot of good things to share about his experience there. That is an option.

LA Marathon would be so ideal, that being right before my birthday! But I need to figure out if I have enough time to train and do it! I am not afraid of failing, but I don’t want to end up hurting myself where I couldnt run anymore. That is my major concern!

I haven’t blogged without purpose so far, and I feel this blog to be highly disorganized, as its just my random thoughts, but if any of you have any suggestions please let me know!
