I like using Athlinks.com, as I believe its about the only website that has the most extensive race results, and has attempted to provide ‘social media’ like feel to endurance athletes to connect. However, I do have my own wish list of features I would like to see with Athlinks.com. Here they are, in the order as I wish! Its not like Athlinks team reads my blog, but I wanted to put this out to the universe!
1. Facebook like Feed
I follow fellow friend athletes, and I also follow others that inspire me. I would like to see the new races they sign up/add to their calendar, I would like to see their new race times. Ability to like or cheer which I can do on individual athlete page, but on a central ‘feed’ like page – would make Athlinks a such a powerful social media tool! Right now, I am connected with lot of my friends, and others but its hard to keep up with what is happening with everyone in terms of races/race times.
2. Ability to add ‘Interested’/’Signed up’/’Want to sign up’ – Remind me when registration opens’ to Calendar Events.
I add races to my calendar. Some races, I can sign up right away, some races I want to sign up, but I don’t have money that month, or the race that I am interested in, isn’t open for registration yet. I have zero way to distinguish these different aspects of ‘Calendar’ feature. So I end up using my own google sheet. This defeats the purpose of me using athlinks.(Which Race Did I sign up?… What Was my Time for that last race?.. When is my next Race?… and other key Race Data Management topics…) I would like to be able to manage these details in Athlinks Calendar itself!! and I can setup reminders that would be double awesome!
3. Can I find my facebook friends on Athlinks.com???
I am friends with most everyone I run or do endurance sports. However, I have to personally look them up for their athlinks.com account! Is there anyway I can find all my facebook friends that are on Athlinks.com and add to my following list! This will make my life lot more happier!!
4. My relay times means a lot to me!
I don’t swim, and I believe I might drown and die if I swim past like 4 minutes. So when my water friendly friends go do triathlon, they take me with them, and offer to have me do a run leg of the relay so I don’t have to feel bad! I take this very seriously, and infact, I have run some of my fastest runs at Triathlon Relays. (Imagine, running past a over permed runner, who already swam 1000 meters, and biked 30 miles… I feel so bad passing them, but my race my pace!). Right now I am forced to keep track of my Relay times on my own – through a excel sheet. I would like to be able to claim my relay results, or at least keep it on my athlinks page manually so I know I had a race!
5. Link to Athlinks Blog from Athlinks.com site
This is the least effort one. I love reading through Athlinks.com’s blog. (http://blog.athlinks.com/) However, I didnt know it existed until I found it through a facebook page link. I do logon to Athlinks pretty often, however, there was no link to Athlinks.com blog from my athlinks.com page. It would have been so much helpful if I had access to it!!!
So there it is Athlinks team! I love your website, and I like using them, and I want to use it more!!!!! Thanks for reading!
