The wait is over… Lexus Laceup Running Series that has been a fixture in SoCal’s racing scene for last 3 years, is back for its 4th year. Unlike other race series, Lexus Laceup tries to cover a bigger ground in terms of cities. Between September to December, there will be 4 races in 4 different cities/Counties. September in Irvine/Orange County. October in Ventura, Ventura County. November in Palos Verdes, in LA County and the final one in first week of December at River Side, Riverside County. Laceup Running Series is best known for their small town races, with a good number that is not super crowded(less than 1500 entries at each site), super affordable(full marathon at $100, Half marathon at $80/$85). Along with Free tech-t, their signature medals, shopping bag, finish line break fast and craft beer, participants get free race photos!
Last year, I ran the entire series, starting with Irvine with a Marathon Relay, and a half marathon at Ventura(1:47 PR), half marathon at Palos Verdes(1:48) and a half marathon at Riverside(1:42). This race series gave me a frame work to train and work towards my goal of getting better with time. Trying to race every month, I was in a good practice/training mode, where I could see my speed improve as each month went by.
for 2017, the race is pretty much same courses in every city, except for Ventura. Ventura Half Marathon’s out and back course, that was 4 mile uphill, and back, has been changed to Ojain to beach Marathon route, and now its a super fast down hill course. Also, they added a new Marathon to this series, which is also a Boston Qualifier!
